Reporting a 9.1.1 EmergencyEmergencies include crimes that are in progress or about to happen, and ones that have resulted in serious personal injury, property damage, or property loss. They also include situations in which the suspect may still be at the scene and some suspicious activities. By calling 9-1-1 you will be linked to the appropriate police as well as fire fighting, medical, and ambulance services. You don't need money to call 9-1-1 from a pay phone. IMPORTANT REMINDERS: Cell phones that are turned on, regardless of service or age, are still capable of calling 9-1-1. All 9-1-1 calls are taken seriously and responded to. If you accidentally call 911 DO NOT HANG UP - please stay on the line and speak to a dispatcher. If you do hang up a dispatcher will call back to ensure that you are not experiencing an emergency. Please do not allow children to play with old cell phones that are turned on. |
